The wedding I still remember

The wedding I still remember pretty well and every time I do – the emotions are overwhelming me, is the one of my cousin. It was few years ago in Fall – my favorite time of the year. I loved everything about this wedding: that it was small and intimate, it was outdoors and it was in Fall. Of course I loved our small company consisting of the immediate family and best friends.

outdoor wedding ceremony

As all of us love the nature and it was decided to hold the ceremony outdoors in a beautiful location bursting with bright autumn colors. The bride and the groom picked a country side with a little river for a ceremony and a rustic barn for a reception. At this time I hadn’t become a pro yet and was just keen of decorating the place and helping my cousin and his wife-to-be with their arrangements

So, after Brian (my cousin) twice proposed his then-girlfriend and she finally said “yes”, they began preparations for their small wedding party. But since none of them had actually any idea of what has to be done, I willingly suggested my help. We went through the magazines and from a huge variety we selected the style of the wedding which supposed to be rustic in the nature with a lot of handmade décor.

If I were to choose the location of my own wedding, I would pick a very similar location. I adored the natural and relaxed atmosphere of my cousin’s wedding, the bright colors of the flowers, the general décor and each detail of it.

The whole day felt so much chilled out and filled with love, that everyone could enjoy every single moment of it. The location wasn’t an ordinary one – a small forest bridge across a tiny river was chosen to hold an intimate ceremony. It was dressed up with satin curtains and tied back with bright flowers and berries. A few benches on both sides of the aisle were decorated with harvest (wheat and flowers). Hand-made décor together with the fall color made a beautiful scenery for such a special occasion.

wedding dinner

The dinner took place in the rustic barn decorated with DYI items. Starting from the drink and dessert station ending with the dinner table and cutlery – everything had a fall signature and was handmade. Even the food was homemade by each of the guest (yeah, everyone brought some treats for dinner or dessert). Apple pies, caramel apples, pumpkins and cider gave a taste of fall and were extremely delicious. We didn’t have fancy dishes with lobsters however we thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

Maybe looking at the pictures you won’t get what can be interesting about this very wedding and how possibly guests could have enjoyed… But each guest had to come a long way from all over the USA and Europe just to share a special moment with the bride and the groom, so seeing the dear people around was already a great joy for Brian and his wife-to-be.

And since it was only close family members and best friends – the atmosphere was incredibly cozy, chilled out and full of love. It was no ordinary wedding – nothing chic and pompous but everyone of us still remembers the taste and the feeling of this wedding.
