What do we know about weddings? Ordinary weddings are around us and we visit them from time to time. Some exotic ceremonies are shown at TV. But the most magic and mysterious ceremonies are led in India. Weddings in India follow ancient traditions and customs of the country and have their own charm and particular qualities.
Weddings in India are the event for nearly the whole city. You will never see less than 100 quests on the wedding party. But the number of guests can be above 10 thousand people. Sure a bride and a groom can not to know the quests but everyone is invited. And the party lasts for several days according to local traditions. There is one more way to get married that is called “love marriages”. That means that a couple gets married without any guests at all including relatives and parents.
The appearance of a bride and a groom has no similar examples in cultures of other countries. That’s why wedding parties of this country have so many fans. The girl puts on a colored wedding gown that is sewed in bright colors especially all shades of red and yellow. All the wedding dresses are long and straight. India wedding gowns are decorated with hand stitching, beads and golden thread. The sleeves of a dress can be different. Indian brides do not wear bridal veil. In spite of that they put on colored shawl or flower crowns. They can decorate their hair with beads too.
It is interesting to mention that all the brides have tattoos on their hands. These tattoos have their own meaning and are the necessary attribute of bridal outlook. The same is about accessories. All the girls put on numerous rings, earrings, beads and bracelets. The more accessories the girl puts on the better she seems to look.
The suit of the groom is the same way interesting as the bride’s dress. He can get the suit of any color but white, yellow and red are the most common colors. The grooms put on simple trousers and shirts. Some of them can also put on long jackets. Some grooms put on special hats and crowns those repeat the color of their wedding suits.
Weddings in India are led after ancient customs. They have tens of ceremonies which ground on local traditions. You can see the ceremony when the parents give the bride to another family and the parents give the groom to another family. Also you can see special ceremonies for bridesmaids and relatives of the couple. Indian weddings are worth to be seen.
