So, your wedding is over and your wedding dress is looking not so good. After hours spent looking for that beautiful dress isn’t it fair not to give it a happily-ever-after? Of course you can wait till after honeymoon to clean your gown, but it’s better to do in while the stains are not set in. I want to tell you how to preserve your dress and how much to dry clean a wedding dress.
What is dry cleaning
It’s a traditional cleaning method. The stains are pretreated first and then the dress is placed in a special dry-clean machine. Fragile details should be removed or protected with muslin, because the solvent should not damage them. Specialists usually use perchloroethylene or petroleum-based cleaners, which are not as aggressive as perk.

Of course the price depends on fabric, style and degree of stain damage. For sure a simple polyester dress will cost less than a heavy silk ball dress. And don’t trust bargain price.
I asked some girls about their experience. My friend Lilly told me that a standard dry cleaning costs about 100 $ and specialized gown preservation cost between 250$ and 500$. She took her simple dress embellishments to a local cleaner and the price was 90$.

Teresa used one preservation company and she says it was really easy. She got a special box and mailed her dress to the company, where they cleaned and steamed it and then packed the dress in a preservation box. That all took about 7 weeks and the price was $150. She was happy!
Rebecca rang her dress shop and asked if they could help her. For £200 they could take her dress, check it, send to their dry cleaners and then return it to in 10 days.
Some girls say their dresses were about $250-$400 to get cleaned and preserved. Crazy!

Price depends on style of the dress. For example slim style cleaning is £75.00 and XL Princess Style – £115.00

Another company says that their wedding dress cleaning depends on the price of the dress. Their prices:
- Dress value up to £600 – £89
- Dress value up to £600-£1000 – £109
- Dress value up to £1000-£2000 -£129
- Dress value up to £2000-£3000 -149
So we can see that prices are really different, from $70 to $250. So you need to investigate where to take your dress about 10-14 days before your wedding day and find the best place with a good price.
